From its humble beginning, the institution, Surigao del Norte College of Agriculture and Technology, founded in the year 1972 is bliss to celebrate its 45th Foundation Day last March 2-3, 2017. The celebration commence with a Holy Mass with celebrant, Rev. Fr. Alvin B. Lao, MSC. The two-day celebration also highlights the skills demonstration of the different qualification and the blessing of new training facilities. This year’s celebration is anchored with the theme, “SNCAT: Building Opportunities through Quality TVET Training.” with hash tag SNCAT@45.
Through the years, SNCAT has been playing a role in the development of the community and society in general. It addresses the needs of the people to acquire skills and has provided thousands of trainees with opportunities to attain their dreams. Mr. Romel N. Natad the Guest Speaker of the event give an inspirational message to all faculty, staff and trainees that he himself, a graduate of technical course that the skills he had acquired have given him a lot of opportunities. He also congratulates the administration, Faculty and Staff headed by Ms. Hydee E. Relliquete for a job well done.
Along with the celebration, after the mass is the blessing of new SNCAT Training Facilities ready to be used for the training. The newly constructed building for the animal production qualification including the fauna in Swine, Poultry-chicken and Ruminant; lecture area for the Agricultural Technology and the Small Engine/Motorcycle Servicing Area.
The school invited Grade 10 students from Magpayang, National High School to be part of the event most specially to acquire skills and ideas for their chosen track in the future. Representative Trainees from Food and Beverage Services NC II showed their skills in Table Setting and Napkin Folding, Cookery NC II trainees demonstrate Squash Ice Cream Making and Cake making, Food Processing NC II made Juices out of natural and organic ingredients and lastly Agricultural Technology students demonstrate how to castrate with a dog showcase their skills during the demonstration.
